Color wheel

Process

  • The first thing I did was divide the circle up into 12 different segments.
  • I then started with blue in one segment and worked my way clock-wise.
  • I figure out the colors by looking at a picture of a color wheel on the computer.
  • The sharpies had the different shades of blue green and red but the yellow to orange was hard. I had to use colored pencils to darken the yellow in the two segments between yellow and orange. I also had to use a lighter purple colored pencil in one segment.

The Color Wheel is important because in order for something to be visually appealing the colors have to go well together. A graphic designers job is to make designs that catch peoples eyes. The color wheel helps the designer choose what colors to use to get the idea across. There are also warm colors and cold colors and typically you don't mix those.
