The main reason I chose this movie was because I like it. The movie also has very simple symbols that contribute to the story that I involved in the movie poster. The color green was used because one of the main ideas in the movie was "the green light across the water". The Little hint of gold in the title was used because that is the color used for most of the graphic designs around Gatsby's house. The black and grays were used to keep a calm vibe. I also used the two main characters that the story line revolved around. I used a picture of Gatsby and Daisy and placed it behind the fading green light to give their faces more color than just black and white.
Dark/light values
The top face is more gray and gloomy whereas the bottom face is more saturated.
Isolation
The bird is the only thing in the picture that is prominent and is made bigger than anything else.
Converging lines
The three triangles all intersect each other.
Intensity of color
This cover's colors are intense because there are a lot of blues that are bright. This cover is intended to be bright and grab your attention.
Temp.
This is a warm cover because it uses a lot of reds and oranges.
Contrast in Shape
The reason this is contrast in shape is because there is a square around a circle.
Marshall Mathers , the artist known as Eminem, is a white hip-hop artist from Detroit. He lived with his mom as a boy along with a brother and a young girl that his mother took in. When he was first starting his career in rap no one would give him a contract. Back then people thought hip-hop was more of a "black" type of music. So when a white boy came from Detroit looking for a record label he didn't get any breaks. After a while the infamous Dr. Dre gave Marshall his break. The two later became known as Aftermath. His first album he released was called "Eminem Infinite". He soon took on the stage name of Slim Shady. Some of his biggest albums were "Recovery" (2010), "The Slim Shady LP" (1999), "The Marshall Mathers LP" (2000), "The Eminem Show" (2002), "Relapse"(2009), and his most recent album "the Marshall Mathers LP 2" (2013). After a while Slim worked his way up through the ranks and became the first white rapper to really make his mark.
I don't exactly know where I got the name from but I knew that the characters backstory was going to be what I wrote. That Is why I incorporated the Chicago Skyline behind the image of the mask. The mask is his signature look and that is why that was the isolated element in the cover. Another element of design I used was the light to dark in the background. The circle faded from white in the center to black on the outside. There was also contrast in shape with the background being a circle and the rectangles as the buildings. I used the background of the city and the fading circles in every part of the design (cover, inset, and back). For the text on the cover I used a white fill and on the other parts I used a white stroke with a black fill. I used the white around the black for text because if it were just one or the other you couldn't read it with the fading black and white background. I also wanted to keep the colors to just black and white.
